2 Corinthians 5:20.
Recently, I had a surprise visit from a dear friend for my fortieth birthday. She asked me a couple of thought provoking questions, "How does it feel to be forty?" and "Do you feel any different?" Pondering on these questions, I had a couple of my own; "What do I want to be when I grow up?" and "What have I done with my life?" "I'm just a mom.", came as the answer. I began to mull this over in my mind, then my heart, then my spirit, which lead to a conversation with the Lord. I heard His voice in my spirit say, "We are ambassadors for Christ." That's it. I'm a mom. As a mother, I am rearing ambassadors for Christ; what more could I ask for? Is that not a big job in itself?
Even though, as a mother we may be rearing teachers, preachers, musicians, soldiers, etc., our foremost missions is to rear Christ like children (citizens). When we are representatives for Christ our countenance should be pleasant and we should radiate the love and joy of the Lord. In turn, others will see a difference in us and want to be more like us. That leads to sharing the true love and joy, Jesus, with others.
What a responsibility to be a mother. How honored I am to be entrusted with rearing my children to be "ambassadors for Christ".
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the opportunity to rear your children that you have entrusted in my life. Help me to be the mother and person you created me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
